Eugene Eisen

Eugene “Gene” Eisen passed away on April 23, 2020, at age 93. Rabbi Rick Rheins officiated at the graveside service held at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

“Gene adored his family and often expressed how his life was a blessing,” his loved ones say.

Mr. Eisen was born Jan. 3, 1927, to Joseph and Clara Eisen on Denver’s West side. His older siblings were Irving and Marian.

After graduating West High School, Mr. Eisen attended DU and also repaired airplanes at Lowry Field.

In 1949, he married Helen Tempelhof and joined his father-in-law Hil Tempelhof, a custom tailor, in his men’s shop in Aurora. Clothing was a familiar occupation since Mr. Eisen’s father Joe was a tailor for 45 years.

Mr. Eisen worked at the May Company and then was employed at the Englewood Men’s Store for 10 years.

In 1964, he opened Man’s World, a ready-to-wear retail store in Littleton. He moved the location five times and specialized in clothing for short and stout men to remain competitive in a tough market.

His knowledge and his outgoing personality kept him in business for over 40 years.

The Eisens raised four daughters and lived in the Hilltop neighborhood for over 60 years. They were avid travelers and golfers.

Mr. Eisen was also a dedicated Broncos fan known for his many quips and funny comments.

The Eisens celebrated 70 years of marriage in June, 2019.

Gene Eisen is survived by his wife Helen Eisen; children Carrie (Alec) Rosenfeld, Penny (Perry) Nisson, Jodi (Andy) Hesch and Lori (Baruch) Eisen; grandchildren Aaron (Ashley) Minard, Rachel Rosenfeld, Lee (Rachel) Nisson, Sam Hesch, David and Nathaniel Goldstein and Liza (Brian) Cohen; and great-grandchildren Carter and Lucas Minard and Jessica and Steven Silvers.
