Larry Levin

Lawrence “Larry” Leigh Levin, 85, an attorney at Holmes, Roberts & Owen for 40 years and national board member of the American Jewish Committee, passed away April 29, 2021. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

“His accomplishments were extraordinary, but he was most proud of his family,” his loved ones said. “We will spend the rest of our lives laughing and telling anecdotes about his humor, wit and decency.”

Mr. Levin was born July 5, 1935, in East Chicago, Ind., to Meyer Levin and Ann Hyman Levin.

The redheaded boy read the dictionary in lieu of a traditional elementary education and skipped two grades. He then went to the Todd School for Boys and graduated at 16.

Mr. Levin attended Cornell University, graduating in 1956, and returned to the family business.

His future wife Carol Lipscher inspired him to pursue the law, once he finished his enlistment in the Army Reserves.

He proposed while stationed in San Antonio, Texas, and they married in Chicago in 1961, during a three-day pass.

In 1967, after he earned an LLB at Indiana University, Mr. Levin, his wife and their two children moved to Colorado.

Mr. Levin co-founded the Colorado Chicano-Jewish Dialogue in the 1970s, was on the Colorado Ballet board and was an early member of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD).

His family said that Mr. Levin treated everyone he met with equality, inclusivity, curiosity and humility.

Larry Levin is survived by his wife Carol Levin; children David and Laura; daughter-in-law Teresa Zwack; and grandchildren Avinoam, Aliya and Maxwell.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the charity of choice.
