Bessie Weinreich Lankowitz, 92, passed away on Feb. 9, 2012. Cantor Maurice Weiss officiated at the Feb. 12 graveside service at Golden Hill Cemetery. Shalom Funeral Service made the arrangements.

“She was a valued member of the Jewish community,” her family said.

“A proud grandmother and great-grandmother, she taught us all compassion and the value of unconditional love. She will be missed.”

A Denver native, Mrs. Lankowitz was the widow of Mace Lankowitz.

President of the HEA Sisterhood in the 1950s, she volunteered for many community organizations.

Mrs. Lankowitz loved the Broncos, Rockies and Nuggets.

She played Mah Jongg for over 40 years and also enjoyed playing Bingo.

Mrs. Lankowitz is survived by her children Joy (Fred) Hood, Stan (Pat) Lankowitz and Debbie (Dennis) Martinez; grandchildren Kevin (Brenda) Hood, Mardi (Michael) Boin, Joni Zisman, Miki (Gerald) Raymond, Leslie (Rob) Smith, Maci (Peter) O’Grady and Matt Tuft; nine great-grandchildren; and sister Laka Slavsky.
