Ruth Metzler

Ruth Metzler, a Holocaust survivor and Denver resident for 60 years, passed away May 13, 2010. Rabbi Bernard Gerson officiated at the May 16 service at Rodef  Shalom. Interment followed at Emanuel Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

Mrs. Metzler was born Sept. 13, 1926, in Chrzanow, Poland. She had a loving relationship with her mother and older sisters.

Just 14 when WW II broke out, she spent the next five years in various concentration camps.

Ruth and her husband Steve Metzler settled in Denver in 1950.

A longtime employee of the JCC, she retired after 25 years with the organization.

Mrs. Metzler loved her weekly card games with friends and enjoyed excercising, taking walks in nature and keeping up on current affairs.

She also doted on her grandchildren, who still brag about her chicken soup.

Mrs. Metzler is survived by her daughter Susan (Hal) Jacobson; grandchildren Daniel and Lee Jacobson; and sister Itka Rosenberg of Israel.
