Leo Stillman

Leo StillmanLeo Stillman, a successful Denver businessman, passed away April 14, 2011, in Denver. He was 97.

Rabbi Richard Rheins officiated at the April 17 graveside service at Emanuel Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

“He was a very quiet and gentle man, and was an extremely philanthropic person,” the family said.

Mr. Stillman was born Oct. 26, 1913, in Denver.

He graduated from North High.

In 1953, he participated in President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s inauguration day parade in Washington, DC.

Mr. Stillman was successful in business from his youth until his retirement in 1975.

His first wife, Gertrude Hellerstein, passed away in 1986.

He married Minnie Stillman on March 30, 1990.

An avid fisherman and golfer, Mr. Stillman loved horses and belonged to the El Jebel Shrine Palomino Patrol for several years.

He also served as president of the Golden Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Stillman is survived by his wife Minnie Stillman; sons Sidney (Noreen) Stillman and Jay Stillman and daughters Suzan (Allan) Markman and Sandy (Steve) Berkowitz; stepdaughter JoAnne (William) Lauterbach; brother Sheldon Stillman and sister Sharon Litvak; grandchildren Scott (Andrea) Stillman, Michael Stillman, Stacy (Richard) Subar, Roni Sue and David (Virginia) Markman, Todd Berkowitz, Amy (Ilan) Berkowitz Caplan; step-grandchildren Jodi (Jerry) McDermott and Darrell (Lana) Lauterbach; and 26 great-grandchildren.
