Judit Druk Zaterman

Judit Druk Zaterman, a Holocaust survivor and Denver resident for 60 years, passed away June 23, 2011, in Denver. She was 86.

Rabbi Steven Foster officiated at the June 26 graveside service at Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

Judit Druk was born Jan. 1, 1925, in Lithuania.

She survived the Kovno Ghetto and fought valiantly with the partisans in the forests of Lithuania.

In 1946, she married Aaron Zaterman, a survivor of Auschwitz, in Berlin.

They immigrated to the US in the early 1950s.

Mr. Zaterman passed away on Feb. 1, 1995.

“Despite the enormous difficulties of her life, Judit was a woman of great generosity and lively spirit,’ the family said. “She offered her hospitality, love of food and her Yiddish wit to all who crossed her path.

“She also instilled in her family the importance of treating people with kindness and respect.”

Mrs. Zaterman is survived by her children David (Margot) Zaterman of Denver, Sunia (Richard Landis) of Silver Spring, Md., and Saul Zaterman of Denver; and four grandchildren, Amy, Danny and Brent Zaterman and Aaron Landis.

She was predeceased by her son Joseph Zaterman in August, 1994.
