Clara Krell

Clara KrellClara Rachel Krell, a Denver resident from 1998 until this year, passed away April 24, 2015, in Evergreen. Rabbi Jamie Arnold officiated at the April 26 service at Feldman Chapel. Internment followed at Long Island National Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the local arrangements.

“”Clara led a life of conviction,”” the family said. “”She advocated social justice for all people. We are inspired by her long and spirited life and we hold her in our hearts.””

Clara Finkelstein was born Dec. 27, 1917, in New York, NY, and graduated Thomas Jefferson High School in 1936.

She married Paul Krell on May 5, 1942. Mr. Krell passed away on Jan. 13, 1976.

A legal secretary in New York, Mrs. Krell moved to Denver at the age of 80 to be near her son and his family.

She explored Denver by bus, made new friends and continued playing a wicked game of Scrabble, reading the Sunday New York Times and completing the paper’s challenging crossword puzzles.

Mrs. Krell also traveled to cities around the world and visited British Columbia, where her daughter and granddaughter live.

She spent the last five years of her life at the Village of Lowry assisted living community and the Life Care Center of Evergreen.

Mrs. Krell is survived by son Benjamin (Marlene) Krell and daughter Toby Krell; grandchildren Paul, Aimie, and Eartha Gordon-Firing (Andrew); and great-grandchildren Evan and Isabel.
