Theodore Silverman

Theodore Theodore “Teddy” Silverman, owner and operator of Gilbert’s Grocery Store on Denver’s West Side and other local establishments, passed away July 21, 2010, in Denver.

Rabbi Ivan Geller officiated at the July 23 graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

“Teddy had a special way of touching customers, friends and family, whether it was at synagogue, in business or at home,” the family said. “A contributor to many Jewish charities, he understood the special needs of others and inspired them with his brilliant mind and sweet spirit.”


Mr. Silverman was born July 31, 1913, in St. Paul, Minn. Due to his mother’s illness, the family moved to Denver.

Teddy and his siblings resided at a children’s home in West Denver for a time.

Mr. Silverman married Anne Silverman on Nov. 18, 1948.

The couple owned Gilbert’s Grocery Store, Ace Billiard Supply and Cin-Caro Manufacturing in Denver for more than 35 years.

Mrs. Silverman passed away on Nov. 25, 2006.

A member of B’nai B’rith, Mr. Silverman retired from business in 1997.

Mr. Silverman is survived by his children Cindy (Marvin) Goldman and Carol Isbell; grandchildren Ira, Nicky (Amanda), Joey, Susan and Sean; and great-grandchildren Daniel and Jordan.
