Rabbi Myron Movsky

Rabbi Myron MovskyRabbi Myron B. Movsky, 95, passed away June 26 in Denver. Graveside services and interment were held at Britton Road Cemetery in Rochester, NY. Brighton Memorial Chapel in Rochester made the arrangements.

Rabbi Movsky was born Aug. 21, 1917, in Rochester, NY, to Philip and Rose Movsky.

He was ordained at Yeshiva University in 1942.

Rabbi Movsky was married to Hadassah Hollander Movsky.

She predeceased her husband.

Rabbi Movsky was a beloved spiritual leader of synagogues in Lima, Ohio, Kalamazoo, Mich., Waukegan, Ill., and Cheyenne, Wyo.

“We will cherish his memory and everything he taught us forever,” the family said.

Rabbi Movsky is survived by his children Peggy Mayer of Denver and David S. (Bev) Movsky of Rochester; grandchildren Jonathan Mayer, Rebeccah (Rabbi Maurice) Appelbaum and Danielle (Michael) Hoenig; and great-grandchildren Helen, Rami and Sima Appelbaum and Isaac Hoenig.

Contributions may be made to Congregation Beth Shalom in Rochester; the Hollander Chumash Fund at Hillel Community Day School in Rochester; or the Alzheimer’s Association.
