Pueblo native and longtime Denver resident Rae Vicki Krausz passed away on June 30, 2023, at the age of 75. A service was held on July 2 at United Hebrew Cemetery in Halethorpe, Md., officiated by Rabbi Emanuel Golfez. Sol Levinson & Bros. handled the arrangements.
Mrs. Krausz (née Sigman) was born in May 8, 1948. She attended Hebrew University, and in September, 1972, married Dr. Stephen Krausz. They remained a couple until her passing.
In 1990, Mrs. Krausz and her husband founded the Jewish Children’s Adoption Network. The organization has helped find adoptive homes for more than 2,000 Jewish children, many of whom were children with special needs.
Dr. and Mrs. Krausz moved from Denver to Baltimore, Md., in 2016, to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
“Vicki did everything with great commitment,” her husband said. “She spared no effort in finding homes for Jewish children who needed to be adopted.”
From the editorial page in the Sept. 8, 2016 edition of the IJN:
“A lot of people talk about equality and about sacrifices to achieve it. A lot of people talk about the rights of Jewish kids with special needs to be exposed to everything Jewish, from Jewish holidays to education to respect.
“We know of no two people who talk the talk and walk the walk so consistently, heroically, personally and profoundly as Dr. Stephen and Vicki Krausz.”
Survivors are Mrs. Krausz’s husband Stephen; children Joseph Krausz, Dora (Mordechai) Segan-Kohanim, Elisheva (Elia) Rahbaran, Nili Krausz, Raphael Krausz and Gavriella Krausz; and 12 grandchildren.
