Shelby Kleimer
Longtime Coloradan Shelby Gay Kleimer died on March 10, 2022. She was 78. A service was held on March 14 at the Vail Interfaith Chapel, officiated by Rabbi Joel Newman. Arrangements were made by Feldman Mortuary.
Mrs. Kleimer was born on May 15, 1943. Her family was rooted in New Jersey, but moved to Vail in 1977.
Mrs Kleimer later lived in nearby Edwards.
While living in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Mrs. Kleimer received her Master’s degree from Southwestern College in social work, specializing in grief counseling. She was a volunteer at opera houses and museums.
“She had a love for music, especially if she could sing along,” the family said, “but her passion and spirit for life were expressed best through her Zumba dancing.”
Survivors include children Ben (Michele Serine) Kleimer, Rachael (Brad) Cohen and Naomi (John) Weetman; and five grandchildren.
Jay Gegenberg
Denver native Jay Gegenberg passed away on March 3, 2022. He was 86. A service was held at Rose Hill Cemetery on March 7, officiated by Rabbi Yaakov Chaitovsky. Arrangements were made by Feldman Mortuary.
Mr. Gegenberg grew up on Denver’s West Side and attended DU, earning a degree in business. While living in California, he was married for 19 years to Candace Kraft, and was marketing director for Koret of California.
He later returned to Denver.
He is mourned by Roselyn Kark, her children and 12 grandchildren.
“He was never seen without a smile,” his family said. “He could make anyone laugh, even in their darkest days, maintaining that sense of humor into his own final hours.”
Survivors include his children Leigh Tartakow, Lindsey Dieball and Scott Goodman; and two grandchildren.
Jackie Paskal
Jackie Paskal, sister of former IJN senior writer Andrea Jacobs, passed away March 22, 2022, surrounded by family at her home in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. She was 78. Memorials will be held in Boothbay Harbor and St. Louis, Mo., at a future date.
Jackie Jacobs was born May 25, 1943, in St. Louis. Recipient of a degree in special education from the University of Missouri, she was adored by her students.
She married Bob Paskal in 1966. The couple moved to Boothbay Harbor, an idyllic small town in Maine, in 1994.
Mrs. Paskal, a petite woman, spent long days on the Atlantic Ocean catching a huge array of big fish, much to the chagrin of her male counterparts.
Next to family and friends, she loved miniatures, pugs, jigsaw puzzles, two cups of morning coffee, mysteries and Maine’s serene beauty. She leaves behind her devoted pug Riley.
Jackie Paskal is survived by her husband Bob Paskal; daughters Mickie (Ross) and Allison (Chris); grandchildren Aron, Sam and John; siblings Andrea of Denver and Gordon (Lisbeth) of Stockholm, Sweden.
