Louis David Lou Shaw, who was stationed in Denver during WW II and decided to remain here, passed away Aug. 10, 2010, in Denver.
Cantor Martin Goldstein officiated at the Aug. 11 graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
The consummate volunteer, he was noted for his quick wit, welcoming smile and the twinkle in his eye, the family said.
Mr. Shaw was born in May 25, 1923, in Chicago.
For 25 years, Mr. Shaw managed the jewelry department at K-Mart, retiring in 1988.
He married Lillian Shaw in 1967. Mrs. Shaw passed away in 2010.
After his retirement, Mr. Shaw devoted himself to volunteerism.
President of the JCC Retired Mens Club for 18 years, he also was recognized by Volunteers of America for providing meals to seniors and organizing speakers forums and social events.
Mr. Shaw is survived by his daughters Rosey (Bob) Godshaw of Denver and Barbara Gibbs-Gore of New Jersey; stepson Martin Kahn of Denver; grandchildren Julia Godshaw of Denver, Gena Gibbs-Gore of Denver and Leah Gibbs-Gore of Brooklyn; sister Alice Bleecker of Denver and sister-in-law Judy (Stuart) Rogel of Denver.
