Irene Sylvia Mayer, a longtime member of Rodef Shalom, passed away March 31, 2018, in Englewood. Rabbi Bruce Dollin and Cantor Martin Goldstein officiated at the April 2 graveside service at Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
“Irene enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, making cards and calendars, bird watching and scrapbooking,” the family said.
“She will be remembered for her two most frequently shared sayings: ‘I wish for you what you wish for yourself’ and the loosely translated Yiddish phrase ‘Start with your right foot.’
“She will be missed, but we will cherish our memories.”
Mrs. Mayer was born June 5, 1924, in Washington, DC, and graduated Roosevelt High School.
She lived in Bethesda, Md., before moving to Denver in 1958.
A purchasing agent at the VA Hospital, Mrs. Mayer retired in 1996.
Mrs. Mayer is survived by her children Jody Mayer, David Mayer and Alan (Peggy) Mayer; grandchildren Sydney Mayer and Braden Mayer; and sister Bea (Bob) Glick.
