Iranian missile strikes on Israel since the launch of “Operation Rising Lion” last week have killed and wounded hundreds and displaced thousands, according to newly released government data on Wednesday morning.
Since Friday, Iran has launched 400 ballistic missiles and hundreds of UAVs at Israel, with officials identifying 40 impact sites across the country.
The barrages — primarily targeting civilian areas in central and northern Israel, including Tel Aviv and Haifa — have killed 24 people and wounded 804. Among the injured, eight are in serious condition, 41 are moderately hurt, and more than 750 sustained minor injuries.
Visiting the northern Israeli town of Tamra on Wednesday, where four young women were killed by an Iranian missile strike over the weekend, Israel President Isaac Herzog said: “I came to offer comfort and embrace the bereaved families . . . I came to console the people of Tamra and, through them, the entire Arab and Israeli society as one.
“I deeply believe — and we must all understand this — that we are meant to live together in this land and to dream together of a shared life built on peace and human dignity — within our society and across the region.
“Iran and its terror proxies do not distinguish between Jews and Arabs of different faiths. Here, they murdered beloved Muslim women. To them — we are all enemies. This is a war of the free world against terror. A struggle of light against darkness. For a safer, better future in the State of Israel and across our region,” said Herzog.
An Iranian missile that struck and destroyed a major rehabilitative center for severely disabled children in the central Israeli city of Bnei Brak on Sunday night, June 15. An elderly man, 80, was killed in his nearby apartment by the force of the blast.
Others among the mortally wounded include a four-year-old girl and 10-year-old boy when an apartment building in Bat Yam, south of Tel Aviv, sustained a direct hit on June 14.
According to Ynet, among those killed in the Bat Yam attack was a seven-year-old Ukrainian girl who was in Israel for cancer treatment. Her brothers and grandmother, who had travelled with her to Israel, were also killed.
Further underscoring the human toll of the Iranian missile attacks, some 3,800 people have been evacuated from their homes.
A total of 18,766 damage claims have been filed with the Israel Tax Authority, highlighting the extensive financial impact of the Iranian missile attacks. Of these, 15,861 pertain to structural damage, 1,272 to vehicles, and 1,633 to contents and other property.
