Denver native Dr. Daniel Rose died on July 11, 2023, at the age of 75. A service was held on July 16 at Emanuel Cemetery, officiated by Cantor Elizabeth Sacks. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Born on October 20, 1947, Dr. Rose attended George Washington High School, Wesleyan University in Conn. and CU Medical School, completing his residency in cardiac surgery at New York University.
Dr. Rose married Ellen Pinson in December, 1972, at Ms. Pinson’s family farm in Liberty Corner, NJ. They remained a couple until Dr. Rose’s passing.
Following retirement, Dr. Rose became president of the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
Under his direction, the foundation raised millions of dollars to develop two drugs that are aiding people with the disease.
Family members noted that Dr. Rose was a triathlete until the last year of his life.
“He always came in first or second because there were only two people in his age group,” the family said.
“He participated every year in an Israel biking event to raise money for disabled Israeli athletes,” the family added.
Dr. Rose also loved helicopters, and participated in skiing, mountain biking, road biking, swimming and running.
Survivors are Dr. Rose’s wife Ellen, children Charles Pinson-Rose, William (Christine) Pinson-Rose and Ellen Ackerman; granddaughter Elaina Rose Ackerman; sister Carolyn Rose Borus and brother Dr. Franklin (Cindi) Rose.
