Dorothy Levinson, a native Denverite and lifelong resident, passed away Aug. 28, 2009, in Denver. Cantor Joel Lichterman officiated at the Aug. 30 graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Everyone looked forward to her Friday night dinners, the family said. She was a pal to the grandchildren, playing dolls and school with the girls, and hockey and baseball with the boys.
Dorothy will be remembered as very kind and caring. She will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives she touched.
Mrs. Levinson was born Sept. 21, 1926, in Denver to the late Jake and Fanny Milzer. She went to Cheltenham Elementary, Lake Junior High, and graduated from North High School on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
She married Julian C. Levinson on June 1, 1947. Mr. Levinson passed away on March 23, 1986.
A homemaker all her married life, Mrs. Levinson started volunteering at Rose Medical Center after her husbands death. She logged more than 9,000 volunteer hours at the hospital.
Rose Medical Center honored Mrs. Levinson as Volunteer of the Year in 1991.
Coordinator of insurance billing in the ophthalmology office of her son, Dr. Richard A. Levinson, Mrs. Levinson was able to communicate with immigrant patients in Yiddish.
She is survived by her sons Dr. Richard A. Levinson and Kenneth L. (Shauna) Levinson; brothers Sidney (Sylvia) Milzer and Joseph (Dorothy) Milzer; and grandchildren Libby McCaffery, Maggie (Dan) Staszcuk, Jay Levinson, Charles Levinson and Claire Levinson.
