Kenneth Shwayder
Denver native Kenneth “Kenny” Shwayder passed away on June 15, 2024, at the age of 83. A service was held on June 18 at Temple Emanuel, officiated by Rabbi Steven Foster. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mr. Shwayder, born on November 1, 1940, grew up on Denver’s East Side and graduated from East High School. He attended the University of Vermont before returning to Denver.
Kenneth married Nancy Baum in 1964; Mrs. Shwayder died in 2022.
Mr. Shwayder worked for the LEGO Toy Company, a subsidiary of Samsonite, the Shwayder family’s business. A few years later, he left Samsonite to work in the real estate business, working at Grubb Ellis, Fuller & Co. before moving to Keller Williams.
In addition to selling real estate, Mr. Shwayder taught at Jones Real Estate College, and was a familiar voice discussing real estate on KNUS 710 during the 1980s.
“Kenny was an avid reader, a music enthusiast, and thoroughly enjoyed socialization that driving for Uber provided him,” his family said.
“Upon retirement, you could find him on the golf course, where he beat Nancy once,” his family added, “and still had the scorecard to prove it.
“Kenny will be missed by his large family and community of friends.”
Survivors are children Danny (Stacey) Shwayder and Mindy (Eric) Fougler; grandchildren Matt (Holly Ratner) Shwayder, Hannah Shwayder, and Whitney and Lexi Fougler; and great-granddaughter Lily Shwayder.

Kristy Schloss
Denver native and business leader Kristy Anne Schloss passed away on April 25, 2024, at the age of 61. Private services will be held in August, and Feldman Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
Born on January 22, 1963, Ms. Schloss attended CU Boulder and studied civil engineering, and was awarded with a Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award from the school. She joined her father, Charles Schloss, Jr., in business, ultimately assuming the role of president and CEO of Schloss Engineered Equipment.
For her work at Schloss Engineered Equipment, Ms. Schloss received an Export Achievement Certificate from the US Dept. of Commerce, and the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Exporting.
Ms. Schloss served as the chair of the Denver branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, and was appointed by the US Secretary of Commerce to chair the US Dept. of Commerce Rocky Mountain District Export Council. She participated on a committee of President Barack Obama’s Presidential Economic Recovery Advisory Board.
A graduate of Leadership Denver, Ms. Schloss was co-chair of the Colorado delegation to the White House Conference on Small Business, and was appointed to the Colorado State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education.
“She was truly an inspiring Renaissance woman who impacted many lives and was never without her excellent wit and full engagement in everything she did,” her family said.
Survivors are sister Sindi Schloss (Jerry) Romanella, brother Charles Schloss III; and nephews Charles Schloss IV and Isaac Schloss.
