Lisa Ly Japha, who escaped from Nazi Germany at age 17, passed away Feb. 27, 2013, in Denver. Rabbis Ben Greenberg, Bruce Dollin and Salomon Gruenwald and Cantors Joel Lichterman and Martin Goldstein officiated at the Feb. 28 service held at The Denver Synagogue/ BMH-BJ.
Interment followed at Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Her million dollar smile and eternal optimism are what always come to mind when we think of her, the family said.
Ly was born Oct. 28, 1921, in Bingen, Germany.
She spent WW II in England and moved to Denver in 1947.
Ly married L. Curt Levisohn in 1947. He passed away in January, 1959.
She married Gerry Japha in August, 1959.
Ly was a furniture sales representative with her brother Werner Gross from 1959 until her retirement in 1994.
Gerry and Ly were happily married for 45 years. Mr. Japha passed away in May, 2005.
Ly Japha is survived by her children Alvin (Pnina) Japha of Haifa, Israel, Dan (Angela) Japha of Greenwood Village, Moshe (Raizel) Japha of Passaic, NJ, David (Rivka) Japha of Jerusalem and Lynn (Bill) Geller of Englewood; grandchildren Yair (Michal), Avigayil (Menachem), Shelly (Meir), Jon (Maureen), Yael, Megan, Aharon (Faigy), Yehuda (Tamar), Esther (Mordechai), Eliyahu, Colleen, Corinne, Benjamin (Vicky), Elisheva (Dave), Jessica and Alissa; and 20 great-grandchildren.
