Your views on gun control

Looking at the results of our recent poll, it appears that IJN.com users generally support the right to bear arms, even while a significant percentage favored more in-depth background checks.

Thirty-one percent of those who voted said that “We need to protect the Second Amendmant” and that “Guns don’t kill, people do”.

Only around 5% believe that “We have police to protect us”, although a slightly higher percentage, 9.5%, do believe that “Increased gun ownership means more deadly crimes”.

But although most support the right to bear arms, 24% do think that “More in-depth background checks are necessary”.

Bottom line: Despite the frightening trend of mass killing, there is no consensus on gun ownership, which means that a large percentage of the American people don’t see a correlation between the two.
