Yona Kellman

Yona Kellman, who fought in the Haganah and was one of El Al’s first flight attendants, passed away February 9, 2018, in Seattle, Wash. Rabbi Zari Weiss officiated at the Feb. 13 service in Seattle. The Co-op Funeral Home of People’s Memorial made the arrangements.

Mrs. Kellman was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Przemysl, Poland.

She fought for the Haganah and served in the Israeli Air Force.

Mrs. Kellman was one of the first flight attendants for El Al Airline.

After moving to Denver, she earned an associates degree in library and media technology at community college and worked as a para-educator with DPS.

Mrs. Kellman married Nate Kellman in 1957. The couple divorced in 1996.

She moved to Aventura, Fla., and then relocated to Seattle.

An ardent member of Hadassah, Mrs. Kellman served as president of the local chapter.

Mrs. Kellman is survived by her son Bernie Joseph Kellman of Richmond, Calif., and daughter Edna Kellman (David Martin) Westerman of Seattle; and grandchildren Max Westerman and Adam Westerman.
