Yoav Weinstein, age 10, passed away May 4, 2016, at The Childrens Hospital from an undiagnosed disease he fought his whole life. Rabbis Raphael Leban and Anat Moskowitz officiated at the May 6 graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
“There is often a symmetry in life brought on through coincidences and chance, yet leave a profound effect,” his mother Yael Weinstein said at the service.
”My Bobi came into this world on April 5, 2006, at a whopping 10 pounds. He took his first breaths in my arms as Yoi held on to (his father) Dave’s finger.
”Ten years later, on May 4, 2016, Yoi passed away, with me holding him as he took his last breath and Dave holding his hand.
”My son was born on the 7th day of Nisan, a week before the holiday of Passover, and passed away on the 27th of Nisan, the week after Passover.
”Passover is about slavery and freedom; finding redemption after affliction. The holiday surrounding Yois birth and death represents him so well.
”He had been a slave to his body for 10 years, and through it all he was brave, fierce and beautiful, both inside and out, his mother said. Yet what he wanted was to be free.
”I feel that this Passover, his voice and ours were heard in Dayenu It would have been enough and he was able to pass from this world so that he could rest and be free.”
Yoav is survived by his parents Yael and David Weinstein; grandparents Tamar and Alan Stitelman; and brother Nadav Weinstein.
