William Thomas

Bill ThompsonWilliam P. “Bill” Thomas, a native of Denver who spent his retirement years in Colorado Springs, passed away Dec. 22, 2009, at his home in Rockrimmon.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, 2 p.m., at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave. in Colorado Springs.

Mr. Thomas was born Feb. 18, 1928, in Denver. He attended East High, where he participated in both sports and band.

Recipient of a degree in organic chemistry from CU, he belonged to the Phi Sigma Delta fraternity.

Mr. Thomas served in the US Army during the occupation of Japan and the Korean conflict.

He was married to his wife Jeanne for 35 years.

During his retirement in Colorado Springs, Mr. Thomas was a counselor with the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) for 15 years and belonged to the American Cancer Society’s prostate cancer task force for 10 years.

He held several other volunteer leadership positions in El Paso and Teller Counties.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife Jeanne; children Kathy Lynn Thomas and Rian Thomas; stepson Eric Christianson; two grandchildren; and sister Betty (Martin) Emeson of Colorado Springs.
