The results of our presidential poll are slowly rolling. We asked IJN.com users which candidate they thought would win in Colorado, and most (62%) answered Hillary Clinton. Republican nominee Donald Trump got about half the votes Clinton did (31%), and Libertarian Gary Johnson is currently at 8%.

These figures match, to some degree, with the data recently released by the American Jewish Population Project which showed that there are far more Jewish Democrats in Colorado (49.7%) than Republicans (17.9%). That leaves 32.4% that are not registered with either major party. It’s that kind of percentage which may make a big difference in this election, especially in a swing state such as Colorado. It also explains why Gary Johnson is polling at 8%, which is close to his overall number in Colorado (upwards of 10%).

According to “Let Colorado Vote,” the initiative on November’s ballot to allow unaffiliated voters participate in primary elections, there are around 1.3 million unaffiliated voters in Colorado. Can those 1.3 million swing an election? Even if they do, it’s unlikely that the Jewish vote will play a significant role in Colorado. According to AJPP, adult Jews make up only 1.33% of the state’s population.

If Trump ends up doing well in Colorado, the Jewish vote will probably have very little to do with it.
