Walk for Israel this Sunday

JEWISHcolorado invites Israel supporters across the community to join together on a two-mile walk on Sunday, May 22, as part of an extended Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel Independence Day, celebration.

This year’s walk will be immediately followed by JCC Denver’s Celebrate Family Festival, featuring Hazon’s DIY Foodie Fair.

The collaborative event brings the Jewish community together at a new location: Sculpture Park at Denver Performing Arts Complex.

All three events are free but registration is required.

Pre-walk registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The kickoff celebration will take place at 9:30 a.m.

The Walk for Israel will leave promptly at 10 a.m. from beneath the dancers along Speer, 1736 Speer Blvd.

At 10:30 am, the Celebrate Family Festival and DIY Foodie Fair will kick off, featuring live music, Israeli games, activities and food.

The 2016 Walk for Israel is co-chaired by Dana Friedman, Cindy Noam, Ronit Williamson and Goldie Cohen.

The presenting sponsor of the combined event is The Staenberg Group.

“We are beyond excited to host this widely popular event at its new location in downtown Denver,” says event co-chair Dana Friedman.

“It is great to witness over 1,500 of our community members supporting Israel in such a positive way.”

Co-chair Cindy Noam says, “Each year we see attendee numbers increase. We have such a dynamic community and one that is committed to strengthening Colorado’s connection to Israel.

“I encourage everyone to join us on Sunday, May 22, and to bring their friends and family as well.”
