the first night of Chanukah, 2019, something happened in Pueblo which, so far as anybody knows, had never taken place in the city’s 158-year history: A menorah was lit in a public place. Specifically, the lighting took place on the steps of the Pueblo County Courthouse. In attendance were Police Chief Troy Davenport and District Attorney Jeff Chostner, who were given the honor of lighting the first candle on a small chanukiyah, and Pueblo Mayor Nick Gradisar, who illuminated the big 10-foot menorah behind it.
