Ukrainian refugee speaks of displacement, deprivation

“ never thought that I would be living in a country where catastrophes and violence would occur. The situation in Ukraine is really dire and is now a situation where people, even my mother, cannot afford to buy food or medicine,” said Masha Shumatskaya, a young Ukrainian who has been involved in the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) over the past few years.
