Theresa Gordon

Theresa GordonTheresa Gordon, a native Denverite and lifelong resident, passed away Sept. 18, 2008, in Denver. She was 84.

Rabbis Selwyn Franklin and Yaakov Meyer and Cantor Joel Lichterman officiated at the graveside service at Golden Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

Mrs. Gordon was the wife of the late Label Gordon.

“She was Label’s ‘straight man’ and side kick for 35 wonderful years,” the family said. “Their marriage was a true love story. They were always together, and now they are reunited once again for eternity.”

Mrs. Gordon was born July 11, 1924, on Denver’s northwest side. She was one of 10 children.

She went to North High School, worked at the Denver Dry Goods Co., and loved to dance.

Theresa met Label at the Trocadero Ballroom at the old Elitch Gardens. They were married in 1951 and had one daughter, Debbie.

Mrs. Gordon worked alongside her husband when he started Gordon Electric Co.

She then opened a dress shop with Charlene Sachter called “Chartrese” across from the old Mile High Stadium.

Mrs. Gordon went to work at the Lilly Rubin dress shop when the new Cherry Creek Mall opened.

She retired from business after Lilly Rubin closed and devoted her life to her grandson Gordy and her two step-granddaughters Alexis and Kacie.
Label Gordon passed away in 1986.

Mrs. Gordon looked forward to Shabbos dinner with her family every week. She said it just didn’t feel like Shabbos until her son-in-law Kevin came in the door and gave her a hug and kiss.

She attended Gordy’s Bar Mitzvah just four weeks before her death.

“She looked forward to this day for 13 years and had a great time,” said her daughter Debbie Hailpern. “We are blessed that she didn’t suffer.”

Mrs. Gordon is survived by her daughter Debbie (Kevin) Hailpern; grandchildren Gordy Hailpern, Alexis Hailpern and Kacie (Eddie) Loughrey; sister-in-law Bertha Morein and brother-in-law Morris Hoffman.
