Temple Sinai’s Rabbi Callman: It’s more than gender

Jordy Callman, assistant rabbi at Temple Sinai since July, loves her coffee, emphatically prefers “female rabbi” to “woman rabbi” and would never call herself reserved. Callman, an ebullient 27-year-old, is no-holds-barred candid. “Rabbis talk about the different sides of their lives and the different hats they wear,” she says. “I don’t know how to do that, and quite frankly I don’t have the energy for it. “What you see is what you get. I am the same person sitting here with you as I am at home on the couch in my sweatpants.
