Sylvia Levenson

Sylvia Levenson, a resident of Highlands Ranch who lived to the age of 96, passed away Oct. 11, 2021. A private service was held via livestream Oct. 15, 2021 at Feldman Mortuary, with Rabbi Joel Newman officiating.

Mrs. Levenson moved to the Denver area in 2012, after the death of her husband David.

The couple were married 66 years before Mr. Levenson’s passing.

Mrs. Levenson was born on December 15, 1924, in Grand Rapids, Mich. She attended the University of Michigan.

The couple were avid travelers. In 2005, at ages 81 and 83, they both participated in the March of the Living, the annual three-kilometer march from Auschwitz to Birkenau, Poland, on Holocaust Remembrance Day. This event marked the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the concentration and death camps of Bergen-Belsen, Auschwitz and Mauthausen.

Mrs. Levenson’s last overseas excursion was to Israel in 2015, when she was 90, returning to the country after her previous visit there in 1988.

“She had a great life,” said Diane Lindholm, Mrs. Levenson’s daughter.

Mrs. Levenson is survived by her three children Diane (John) Lindholm of Denver and Grand Blanc, Mich., Janet (Daniel) Hoffman of Highlands Ranch and Ian (Elizabeth) Levenson of Denver. Mrs. Levenson is also survived by six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
