Our family had almost every meal together, says daughter Lisa Buchanan. Susan loved to cook and was stubborn about sharing her recipes. Waffles, blintzes, potato latkes and the weekly prime rib always made our home on Grape Street smell yummy.
She was a master at coordinating birthday parties, family vacations, weddings, brit milah, and Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. Susan was fortunate to attend every simcha until she had to slow down.
Mrs. Hindlemann was born June 13, 1930, in Denver to Mamie Grimes Pizer and Joseph Pizer and attended East High. The family often went to the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, in addition to taking other trips.
She studied at the University of California-Berkeley.
Susan met Stanley Hindlemann through her Denver circle. They married on Jan. 18, 1953 at the Town Club, built their dream home in Hilltop and were lifetime members of Temple Emanuel.
The Hindlemann family was a constant presence at the JCC.
In the mid-1970s, Mrs. Hindlemann joined her husband and began working part-time at Stans Tuxedo Rentals. Over the next four decades, she became a savvy businesswoman and eventually ran the shop with her son Jeffrey so her husband could retire.
Mrs. Hindlemann had an extensive group of friends and met her girlfriends every week for lunch or to play cards. An excellent bowler, she played on a team at Monaco Bowling Lanes.
Stan Hindlemann passed away in 2006.
After her husbands death, Mrs. Hindlemann moved to Coral Gables in 2010 to be closer to her daughter Sandra and grandchildren.
Mrs. Hindlemann is survived by her five children Jeffery Hindlemann, Jill (Bob) Rothman, Sandra (Scott) Colish, Lisa (David) Buchanan and Beth (Chris) Krinsky; grandchildren Ilene, Rivka (David), Rachel, Sarah, Rohin, Samuel, Mat, Jordon, Joe Kinsky; and great-granddaughter Louella.
