Steven Alan “Bones” Miles, owner of the wine company Steve Miles Selections for 10 years, passed away Aug. 15, 2018, in Denver. Rabbi Rick Rheins officiated at the Aug. 31 memorial service at Temple Sinai. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

“Steven was a remarkable man,” the family said. “He was a wine-drinking, food-loving travel fanatic who loved riding his Harley Davidson Road King all over the Colorado mountains.

“He had a great sense of humor and was always kind to strangers, neighbors, friends and family.

“Michael was very hard working,” the family said. “Although sometimes intense, he always had your back.”

Mr. Miles was born in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended Urbandale Senior High in Des Moines and earned a business degree at the University of Iowa.

He married Allison Miles on July 25, 1993.

Mr. Miles was active in the wine business for more than 40 years.

He worked for Gallo, Chateau Ste. Michelle, Preferred Brands (his own company) and Eric Solomon European Cellars before launching Steve Miles Selections 10 years ago.

In the late 1980s, Chateau Ste. Michelle named Mr. Miles Salesman of the Year.

He loved scuba diving and exotic locales, was an expert underwater photographer and was very fond of skiing crazy terrain. He also loved his pets and sharing boxes of fine wine with close friends.

“Steven was charming, generous and an extreme force of nature,” his loved ones said.

“At 60, he was still fighting his battle against ALS with great fierceness. He wanted to live, and was a fighter until the very end.”

Mr. Miles is survived his wife Allison Miles; brother Hugh Miles; sister-in-law Marcia Miles; and nieces Sarah-Levine Miles and Maggie Miles and nephew Mike Miles.

Contributions may be made to the ALS Association, Rocky Mountain Chapter, 10855 Dover St., Suite 500, Westminster, CO 80021.
