Sol David Shafner, the manager and owner of Kiddieland for 48 years, passed away Oct. 26, 2014, in Denver. Cantor Joel Lichterman officiated at the Oct. 28 graveside service at Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Shalom Funeral Service made the arrangements.
”Sol was known for his wit, honesty and integrity, his love of patriotism and his family,” his loved ones said.
Mr. Shafner was born May 22, 1924, in Philadelphia, Pa.
A proud veteran of WW II, he served in the US Army Air Force from 1941-1946.
He married Evelyn Golden Shafner on Aug. 25, 1951. They were married for 63 years.
He was the manager and owner of Kiddieland in Denver for 48 years.
Mr. Shafner is survived by his wife Evelyn; children Bonnee (Nate) Oderberg, Rhonda (Eric) Weisberg, Susan (Marc) Mishan and Jodi (Michael) Gertell; brother Sid (Esther) Shafner; grandchildren Adam (Katie) Oderberg, Eli (Katie) Oderberg, Ethan Weisberg, Liza Mishan, Edward Mishan, Seth Mishan, Jason Gertell, Jennifer Gertell, Jeremy Gertell and Jessical Gertell; and great-grandson Joseph Oderberg.
He was predeceased by his grandson Gabriel Oderberg.
