Shouted from the rooftops

Irving Wallach, who lives in Sydney Australia, recently went to Poland, where he sponsored the renovation of the tomb of Maria Jalowiec, who died in 1979.

Jalowiec hid Regina Wallach, Irving’s mother, in a barn, 1942 to 1944, in order to save her from the Nazis, and at risk to her very life.

The occasion of Irving Wallach’s trip at this time was the 70th anniversary of the Nazi murder of the Jews of Brzostek, Poland, the home of his mother and her savior.

Irving Wallach said of the event: “It marks the righteousness and courage in saving life, that of a Jewish neighbor. Maria Jalowiec’s courage and her decision to save my mother’s life came at the risk of possibly sacrificing her family’s and her own life. Such people deserve to have their names and deeds shouted from the rooftops.”

Amen.

And thank you.
