Sheldon Kalmun Ginsberg, better known to his family and friends as Butch, passed away May 28, 2011. He was 70. Rabbis Joe Black and Steven Foster and Cantor Regina Heit officiated at the May 31 service at Temple Emanuel. Interment followed at Emanuel Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
At the service, all three of Mr. Ginsbergs daughters spoke movingly of their close relationship with their father.
Born to the late Mollie and Julius Ginsberg, Mr. Ginsberg attended East High, where he was on the football team. He graduated in 1958.
He married Gloria Goldberg Ginsberg on Sept. 6, 1961.
Mr. Ginsberg, who graduated from CU in 1962, earned his JD from the DU College of Law in 1965.
He practiced law with his father until the senior Mr. Ginsberg died in 1980, and then started his own law practice.
Sheldon Ginsberg received the Volunteer Lawyer of the Year award from the Denver Bar Association for his work with indigent clients.
Chapter chair of the March of Dimes in the 1980s, he spent several years on the Cherry Creek Water board, where he also served as president, and refereed football for DPS.
Mr. Ginsberg enjoyed skiing, fishing, golf and tennis. A dedicated gardener, he also loved to travel and visited Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, South America and Europe.
He supported his grandchildrens athletic and school endeavors until the final weeks of his illness, and delighted in his pet dogs and grand-dogs.
Mr. Ginsberg is survived by his wife Gloria Ginsberg; daughters Kerri (Jeremy Weiner) of Aurora, Jodi (Michael Hansen) of Fort Collins and Jill (Kyle Roblyer) of Lone Tree; grandchildren Jake and Ben Roblyer, Sydney and Josh Hansen and Hannah and Hallie Weiner; and sister-in-law Marlene Schmid of California.
