Sorry, kids . . .
When the Intermountain Jewish News Education & Culture special issue is published, that means the first day of school is just around the corner.
It’s time to trade in the camp duffel bag for the school backpack. Sleeping in will soon be replaced with getting up for school. It might also mean some new clothes and stocking up on those school supplies.
It means saying goodbye to the unstructured, carefree days of summer and getting into the headspace of everything that school entails. (We know . . . moms are generally happy about this; kids, not so much.)
Is there a positive spin here? We think so.
The first day of school is a fresh start, with unknown opportunities on the horizon. Students are about to learn new material, acquire new skills, make new friends and perhaps meet the one teacher who will have a profound effect on their life.
Another positive: the second day of school just is one day closer to summer vacation.
