Denver native and teacher Saralee “Sally” Spivak passed away on November 29, 2022. She was 93. A service was held December 2 at Rose Hill Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Bruce Dollin. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

Growing up on Denver’s West Side, Mrs. Spivak graduated from North High School in 1946 and then attended DU for two years before marrying David Spivak on March 27, 1949. They were a couple until Mr. Spivak’s passing in 2000.

Mrs. Spivak embarked on a lengthy teaching career, including teaching kindergarten at Beth Joseph religious school. After earning a teaching degree from MSU she began teaching young children at Head Start, and was a substitute at Denver Public Schools.

“When she started using a computer she proudly put together a family tree and kept it up to date with every new marriage or child,” her family said. “She provided a binding force that helped her children have a close and amicable relationship through the years.”

Survivors are children Gary (Mary Beck) Spivak, Paul (Angel) Spivak, Marla (Chris Carson) Spivak and Laurie (Louis) Morris; and nine grandchildren.

Contributions may be made to HEA or the Spivak Bee Innovation Fund.
