Sarah Sadie Myers, previously of Denver, passed away Feb. 13, 2010, in Beachwood, Ohio. Rabbi David Zucker officiated at the Feb. 15 graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Sarah was a strong and wonderfully powerful and positive person, the family said. She was strong-willed, hard-working, and a loving and lovable woman.
Born in 1917 in Manchester, England, to the late Hetty and Chaim Reich, Sarah grew up in Salford.
Like many of her generation, she left school when she was 16.
Sarah Reich and Philip Myers were married in November, 1939, and lived in Bolton, England.
In 1948, the couple emigrated to Sydney, Australia, where they owned several food service companies. Ten years later they moved to Albuquerque, NM, and owned and operated Myers Fine Foods and the Union Bakery.
Mrs. Myers was active in the Bnai Israel Synagogue and Hadassah in Albuquerque.
The Myers moved to Denver in 1972 to be close to family and remained here until 1984, when they relocated to Florida. There, Mrs. Myers gave weekly dvar Torahs in the Del Prado condominiums synagogue.
Mr. Myers predeceased his wife of 55 years. She published a memoir about him, Dear Phil, when she was 90.
In 1996, Mrs. Myers returned to Denver to be closer to family. She was president of Brandeis Women and Hadassah.
She moved to Franconia, NH, in 2001. Since 2007, she lived at Menorah Park Senor Residences in Ohio.
Mrs. Myers is survived by her daughters Stephanie (the late Morris) Schur of Phoenix, Bernice (Bruce) Dinner of Franconia, NH, and Heather (Stephan) Bossin of Shaker Heights, Ohio; son-in-law Stanley Feinstein of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister Enid Young of Sydney, Australia.
She was predeceased by her daughter Rosalia in 2009.
