Sam L. Levine, owner of Columbine Ford in Rifle, Colo., passed away Nov. 9, 2013, in Rifle. Cantor Joel Lichterman officiated at the Nov. 14 graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Just last year, the IJN profiled Mr. Levine in the Sept. 14, 2012, Chanukah edition.
Yes, I come here every day, Mr. Levine said, referring to the dealership he opened with his son Rick about 21 years ago.
I enjoy it. I like being around people . . . I think the secret behind a successful business is kindness.
Sam had a very long, happy and successful life, his loved ones said. He was loved very much by his family and friends.
Mr. Levine was born Jan. 21, 1918, in Adams County, Colo., to Fannie and Aaron Levine. He grew up under the Viaduct and graduated North High.
He married Elaine Levine on June 18, 1942. Mrs. Levine passed away on April 27, 2002.
Mr. Levine, who served with the US Army in WW II, was a kosher butcher at Modern Kosher Meats on Colfax and Perry for many years.
He then entered the used car business in Greeley. After 25 years, he and Rick started Columbine Ford in Rifle. Mr. Levine retired from business Oct. 1, 2012.
Mr. Levine is survived by children Alan (fiancée Marsha Rosen) Levine and Rick (Linda) Levine; and grandchildren Cary Levine, Shauna Levine, Zachary Levine and Lindsay Levine.
