Ruth Rosenberg

Ruth RosenbergRuth Ann Rosenberg, wife of the late Nathan Rosenberg, longtime head of the Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado, passed away May 19, 2012, in Arizona.

The service and burial were held May 21 at East Lawn Palms Cemetery and Chapel in Tucson, Ariz. East Lawn Palms Mortuary made the arrangements.

“Ruth was an amazing woman,” her family said. “She was beautiful inside and out and lived a very full, meaningful and good life.

“She was a joy to be with — always kind, thoughtful, warm, incredibly smart and had a great sense of humor. She was there for everyone, lending an ear, a hand or a great meal.

“Ruth was completely non-judgmental and accepting, and she was so wise. It’s hard to imagine a world without her, but memories of wonderful times will always be with us.”

Mrs. Rosenberg was born Oct. 13, 1916, in New York City. Valedictorian of her class at Kerhonkson High School, she graduated from CU and became a teacher.

She married Nate Rosenberg on Oct. 18, 1936. Daughter Sara Page says that her parents’ marriage “was an inspiration to all their children and grandchildren.”

When Mr. Rosenberg passed away on Nov. 23, 2007, the couple had been married 70 years.

In Denver, Mrs. Rosenberg was quite active in the Allied Jewish Federation and National Council of Jewish Women.

An avid reader, she also was a great cook, entertainer and gardener.

Mrs. Rosenberg is survived by her children Joe Rosenberg of New York, Judie (Lee) Berendt of Tucson and Sara (Sol Baron) Page of Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren Mike (Lauren) Stern, Marcy Howell, Scott Berendt, Jamie (Josh) Thau, Faye (Alex Raskin) Rosenberg, Ilyse Rosenberg and Jeff Colchamiro, Melissa Baron, Kate Baron, Mark (Alanah) Baron, Josh (Beth) Baron, Elisa (Dave) DePolo; great-grandchildren Matthew and Casey Stern, Winter, Caden, Asher and Boden Howell, Avery Thau, Lillian and Nathaniel Raskin, Maya and Leah Colchamiro, Wren and Fern Baron, Sophia and Jacob DePolo.

Contributions may be made to the Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado in honor of Nathan and Ruth Rosenberg.
