Ruth Goodman

Ruth Garber Goodman, past president of the Temple Emanuel Sisterhood, passed away April 22, 2012, in Denver. Rabbis Steven Foster and Joe Black and Cantor Regina Heit officiated at the April 24 graveside service at Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

“Ruth was a remarkable woman,” the family said. “She was always very involved in the community and was a wonderful mother, grandmother and aunt.

“Her live revolved around her family.”

Mrs. Goodman was born Aug. 11, 1922, in Omaha, Neb., and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Initially a fashion model for Brandeis Department Store in Omaha, she became an elementary school teacher.

She married Harold Sonny Garber on Nov. 30, 1947. Mr. Garber passed away on Oct. 2, 1969.

Her marriage to Samuel Goodman took place on Nov. 6, 1971. Mr. Goodman passed away on Nov. 3, 2010.

In Denver, Mrs. Goodman was a preschool teacher at Temple Emanuel, where she was a board member and president of the Sisterhood.

On the board of the Rose Hospital Auxiliary, she also belonged to Hadassah.

Mrs. Goodman is survived by her daughters Susan (Bill) Curry and Dale (Tom) Lyneis, both of Denver; and grandchildren Emily, Drew and Jamie Lyneis.
