Two Denver Jewish bakeries, The Bagel Store and Rosenberg’s Bagels and Delicatessen, are merging to become Rosenberg’s Kosher.

With both retail and wholesale operations, Rosenberg’s Kosher is set to open Friday, Sept. 15 in the former Bagel Store location at 942 S. Monaco Pkwy., offering a comprehensive selection of house-made baked goods, smoked fish, salads and spreads.

“By merging The Bagel Store with Rosenberg’s, we’re ensuring the longevity of kosher food in Denver,” says Beth Ginsberg, owner of The Bagel Store.

“The Bagel Store has served the Jewish community for more than 40 years. Joining forces with the up-and-coming Rosenberg’s secures The Bagel Store’s future.”

The Bagel Store originally opened its doors in 1976 in the space where it still resides today.

In addition to bagels, specialties include a variety of challahs, macaroons, rye and whole wheat breads, cakes, hamentashen, mandel bread and other cookies.

Rosenberg’s Kosher will expand offerings to include an array of delicatessen items, such as house-cured and smoked fish, spreads and salads.

“We’re excited to take our relationship with Denver’s Jewish community one step further by offering our same outstanding bagels for those who observe the traditions of kashrut,” says Joshua Pollack, owner of Rosenberg’s Kosher.

Rosenberg’s Kosher on South Monaco will feature updated retail space, including the addition of outdoor seating. A dairy room and kosher smokehouse will accommodate production of the new menu items.

The new store will also have wholesale and catering components resulting in the production of more than a million bagels a year.

Rosenberg’s Kosher bagels will be available at outside locations, including the Hyatt Regency, Rose Medical Center, the Denver Convention Center and Whole Foods.

Catering will be available for weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, baby naming ceremonies and brit milah.

While the majority of The Bagel Store’s staff will remain with Rosenberg’s Kosher, the bakery expects to take on additional staff.

There will be no changes to other Rosenberg’s locations, which are not certified kosher.
