Dr. Robert Alan Weinstein, DDS, was killed in a car accident on Feb. 28, 2015, in Addison, Texas. He was 71. Services were held March 5 in the main sanctuary of Shearith Israel in Dallas. Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home made the arrangements.
Deeply involved with his family and friends, his faith and good health, Robert instilled his values and brought joy into the hearts of everyone he met, his loved ones said.
“He was the life of the party and truly lived life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed.”
Dr. Weinstein was born in Denver. He attended East High and was in the first class at George Washington High.
After going to CU and Tulane University, he went to Northwestern University Dental School and received his dental degree in 1968.
He took four more years of specialty training at Loyola University and Affiliated Hospitals in Chicago, where he earned his masters in 1973.
Dr. Weinstein practiced oral and maxillofacial and surgery for over 40 years.
He had extensive experience in dental alveolar surgery, particularly in wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, general anesthesia, IV sedation, TMJ, facial trauma, reconstructive and cosmetic jaw surgery.
Dr. Weinstein participated in numerous outreach missions covering the globe.
“He was gifted with skilled hands and a sharp mind, and devoted his life to bettering the lives of others,” the family said.
“Able to speak at least a few phrases in 20 languages, he had a passion for traveling, the arts, history and culture.
“The ocean was his playground.
“When he wasn’t practicing dentistry, he enjoyed scuba diving, sailing and golf.”
Dr. Weinstein is survived by his wife Soonja Weinstein; children Danea Leigh, Soonja (Matt) Heber, Josh (Kami) Weinstein, Mara (Moises) Weinstein Velez, Daniel Weinstein and Sevara Tyrrell; grandfather of Dakota, Canyon and Ella; and siblings Steve (Debra) Weinstein, Loren (Andrea) Weinstein, Joy (Michael Wingert) Weinstein and David (Gayle) Weinstein.
