Robert Gary Weiss died on December 8, 2022. He was 72. A service was held on December 11 at Mt. Nebo Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Bernard Gerson. Feldman Mortuary make the arrangements.
A native of Bluefield, W. Va., Mr. Weiss fashioned an extraordinary career in the computer and tech field; while a student at Concord College in West Virginia, he computerized the campus, leading to other accomplishments after graduation.
At the Rockwell Space Division in Seal Beach, Calif., Mr. Weiss helped create the heat tiles on shuttles. He also developed GPS systems for Rockwell. During that time he met his wife, Linda Strauss.
Mr. Weiss moved to Colorado to work for IBM as a mainframe security consultant.
“The thing he loved most and put all his efforts into was his family,” Mr. Weiss’ family said. “He was a warm, kind and generous man who was always willing to help others.”
Survivors include Mr. Weiss’ ex-wife Linda; son Saul (Nicole Buyck) Weiss; and grandsons Taylon Keaton Buyck Weiss and Kyron Gable Buyck Weiss. Mr. Weiss was predeceased by his son Aaron.
