Richard Radetsky

Richard RadetskyRichard Lee Radetsky, a native and lifelong Denverite, passed away April 23, 2015, in Denver. Rabbi Bernard Gerson and Cantor Saul Rosenthal officiated at the April 27 graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

“”Richard’’s greatest love was for antique and classic cars,”” the family said. “”He was known worldwide for his knowledge of these cars and their parts, specifically pre-WW II cars.””

Mr. Radetsky was born Feb. 18, 1944, in Denver. He graduated North High School and attended CU for one year.

He married JoAnn Kesselman Radetsky on July 3, 1966.

When his Colorado Air National Guard unit was activated, Mr. Radetsky served with the US Air Force in Vietnam from 1968-1969.

Mr. Radetsky joined the family business Broadway Auto Parts (started in 1925 by his grandfather Max Radetsky and father Albert Radetsky) and became a co-owner.

He retired in 1982.

In 1986 Mr. Radetsky opened Broadway Auto Electric at the same location, retiring in 1998.

Mr. Radetsky continued dealing in obsolete automotive parts for pre-WW II cars nationally and internationally until he became ill.

A member of Rodef Shalom, he belonged to the Jewish Genealogical Society of Colorado, Vietnam Veterans of America, the Marmon Club for collectors of Marmon Automobiles, and coached Olympics of the Mind.

Mr. Radetsky is survived by his wife JoAnn Radetsky of Denver; sister Merna (Radetsky) Saliman of Boulder and brother Gerald Radetsky of Denver; children Edward (Leora) Radetsky of Castletown, NY, and Daniel (Kathleen) Radetsky of Castle Pines, Colo.; and grandchildren Edan, Liat, Aleksander and Spencer.
