The chickens are an initiative of the sustainability committee, organized by Kimberly Turnbow. They will spend the summer at Ramah in the Rockies, where the campers will learn to care for them as part of their community service work. The plan is to increase the farm each year, using vegetable scraps from the kitchen to help feed them, and composting their manure for the wildflower garden.

A delegation of community members from Houston, led by Ramah supporters Dr. Ron and Shira Moses, will be joining the grand opening. The delegation will bring a Torah with them, on summer loan from Congregation Beth Yeshurun.  They will present the Torah to Ramah in the Rockies as a gift from the Houston Jewish Community. Delegation members include Ron and Shira Moses, Elizabeth and David Grzebinski, Rabbi Ranon Teller, Cantor Diane Dorf, Benjamin Musher, David Lewis and Jennifer Deutsch.

The celebration will kick-off the inaugural summer of Ramah Outdoor Adventure at Ramah in the Rockies, welcoming over 100 campers this season.
