At press time (Wednesday, Dec. 10), the IJN learned that at a congregational meeting last Wednesday evening, Dec. 10, the BMH-BJ was scheduled to hire Rabbi Yaakov Chaitovsky, now of Baltimore.
Rabbi Chaitovsky was the rabbi of BMH-BJ, 1994-2001.
H. Michael Miller, president of BMH-BJ, said, We are excited that the rabbi is coming and look forward to introducing many innovations in partnership with him.
BMH-BJ has been without a rabbi since Feb. 1, 2014, when Rabbi Ben Greenberg left.
Rabbi Chaitovsky officiated at High Holiday services this year and was enthusiastically received. He spent a few subsequent Sabbaths at the synagogue.
