President Biden’s responsibility

President Joe Biden cares deeply about Israel and has not fallen for the inaccurate narrative that Israel brought on this war. President Biden summed it up by saying that Israel has a right to defend itself. Not: Hamas has a right to attack Israel because Israel is a racist country. No: Israel is not a racist country, whatever its faults, and has a right to fight back when attacked. Thank you for your firm defense of Israel and of the truth, President Biden.

This said, President Biden bears heavy responsibility for this war. It is not an accident that during Donald Trump’s four years in office there was no war between Israel and anyone. Trump made it clear that he understands Israel’s enemies and opposes them. Israel’s number one enemy is Iran, whose proxy Hamas now wages war with Israel.

President Biden does not understand Israel’s enemy Iran. President Biden, by trying to strengthen Iran weakens Israel. Iran gets the message. Iran’s proxies get the message. Hamas gets the message. Why did Hamas feel emboldened to attack Israel now, when it did not do so during Trump’s term? Hamas’ Isalmic hatred of Israel did not change. Only its evaluation of the degree of American support for Israel changed.

Trump’s presidency ended in disgrace and danger, but it had its strengths, such as precluding war from Gaza. Trump’s solicitude for Israel, his stand against Iran and his opposition to Palestinian “pay for slay” held Israel’s enemies in check and kept the peace. When Israel is perceived to be weakened, war comes. It is time for Biden to stop dangling carrots in front of Iran.
