Preservation, economic growth clash

Last week, a humble and attractive house on Denver’s West Side — long the home of Jewish families — escaped the wrecking ball by a very thin margin. Its future, however, remains uncertain.
On May 14, the Denver Landmark Preservation Commission voted to delay its decision until Aug. 17 on whether the house on the 1500 block of Winona Court, just across the street from the Zera Abraham synagogue, should receive historic landmark designation.
