Phyllis S. Reckler

Phyllis Sarah Reckler passed away May 19, 2008, at the Rose Schnitzer Manor in Portland, Ore. She was 83.

“She was an exceptionally strong-minded, intelligent, liberated female who adjusted remarkably to overcoming challenges and obstacles,” the family said.

Mrs. Reckler was born on May 15, 1925, in Denver.

She married the first love of her life, Marvin Appel. They had three children.

He died in 1973.

When her second husband, Albert Reckler of Denver, died in 1985, she moved to Lincoln County, Ore., to be closer to her daughter.

She was a tireless fighter for the elderly, poor and disadvantaged whether on two legs or four.

During the last days of her life, Mrs. Reckler was confined to her bed and surrounded by her family and pets.

Mrs. Reckler is survived by her three children; daughter Cheryl and two sons Errol and Darrel.
