Pauline Kay, a member of the jewelry industry for more than 50 years, passed away Aug. 15, 2009, in Denver. She was 89.
Rabbi Bruce Dollin officiated at the Aug. 17 service held at the HEA. Interment followed at Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Feldman Mortuary.
At the service, Mrs. Kays grandchildren said that their grandmother enriched the lives of everyone around her and created the loving family we are today.
Despite her many achievements, she wanted to be remembered for her cooking, baking and knitting, they said.
She was born April 14, 1920, in Denver to the late Rose and Joseph Vicksman. Her parents were active at the HEA. Pauline was a member of first confirmation class in 1936.
Mrs. Kay attended Cheltenham Elementary, Lake Junior and North High School.
While in high school, she started working at her fathers jewelry company, Vicksman Jewelers, where she remained for 50 years.
She married Harold Pip Kay in 1941. The couple loved to travel during their 62 years together. Mr. Kay passed away in 2003.
After working at Vicksman Jewelers, Mrs. Kay sold diamonds at the Empire Company.
She retired in 2004 but continued selling jewelry from her home.
Mrs. Kay loved knitting sweaters for the entire family.
Mrs. Kay is survived by her daughter Shelly (Michael) Seeb and son Lenny (Judy) Kay; sisters Barbara Okner and Beth Tittman; and grandchildren Ean, Ryan and Sami Seeb and Elissa (Eric) Roesch and Jenna Kay, all of Denver.
